President Milei can’t and shouldn’t disregard last Tuesday’s massive nationwide march in defence of universities and state education. His tendency to label any demonstration as an attempt to hinder his administration is a futile effort to deny reality. Yes, there were also labour unions and leaders of some opposition parties, who were obviously taking advantage of the critical situation for their own gain, but most of the demonstrators were students, teachers, professors, deans, parents, teenagers, former students, graduates, who are rising up against Milei’s drastic austerity measures that endanger the system.
