If we were told that someone who has publicly and repeatedly insulted women, and has cheered dictatorship, wants to become the President of a nation, we wouldn’t believe it. Moreover, if on top of all these “qualifications”, we learnt that he is supported by crowds of voters, the whole thing would sound like a bad joke. However, such a candidate does exist and is gaining popularity and fans at breakneck speed. His name’s Jair Bolsonaro and he’s leading Brazil’s presidential campaign, in spite of having attacked women, gay people, black people, among others. He sounds like Trump in many ways, and -like him- Bolsonaro attacks the free press whenever it dares criticize him. Something is rotten in America (North and South)
