I honestly thought I was watching a Netflix series, maybe “House of Cards”. But I wasn’t. That was actually happening in Washington DC. A mob, a riot, thousands of men and women trying to break into the Capitol, encouraged by the leader they blindly worship: Donald Trump, who used to be a pathetic clown but is now acting like a criminal. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I must say, this view was almost worse than the Twin Towers terrorist attack, because we are not talking about an outsider here, about a foreign enemy. It’s the current President of the United States the one who was openly urging his fans to wage a war against democracy itself. We all saw it coming, though; everybody except his “devotees” . Four people died. And who’s to blame? There’s blood in his hands, as in Lady Macbeth’s. He should be held responsible for these human losses and should end up in jail. Gabriel García Márquez would have described this sad episode as a “Chronicle of a Death Foretold”. Sigh …
