At first sight, it might seem that there’s no crisis in Argentina. The British band “Coldplay” has sold out 10 shows at River Plate’s Monumental Stadium. Every long weekend, crowds rush to different holiday resorts. Corrientes Avenue has come back to life after the eternal lockdown, showing off full theatres and restaurants. But appearances are misleading. There might be an explanation.  Since in Argentina we cannot plan anything, I believe Argentines have decided to follow Robin Williams’ piece of advice to his students in “Dead Poets’ Society”: “Carpe Diem”, Seize the day. Before inflation eats up our savings, we’d rather spend them on fleeting pleasures. We have no choice but take it one day at a time. Because, among many other things, we’ve been robbed of our future.
