CFK startled all (or most) of us, when she turned up in a public event wearing black, tight leggings. No one can say they don’t look good on her, but there seems to be a contradiction between her wardrobe choice and her inexplicable 3-year-mourning. Somehow, they don’t match. It’s not the only “odd one out”. There are many other things that don’t match in our society: slums without natural gas, running water or sewage system but with Direct TV, or Nacional Buenos Aires students breaking into and vandalizing a historical Church.
Unfortunately, Discépolo’s tango “Cambalache” (1934) is still the most accurate description of our paradoxical reality.
