Former United States President, Barack Obama, has hit the nail on the head this week: «Argentina fails to win the World Cup even with Lionel Messi because they do not play as a team.». In plain words, he has described one of our major historical difficulties as a nation: we are not a team, we lack team spirit, at all levels, in all areas. We find it hard to join forces, to put aside our egos and personal interests. This is quite obvious nowadays, as we watch the petty struggles inside the political parties, in view of the forthcoming presidential elections. Theirs is a nauseous Vanity Fair. You’re damn right, Mr Obama: as individuals, we’re great, we’re all Messis; as a society we utterly fail, we’re messy (if you allow me the pun). Sigh
