Messi: ‘oh captain, My captain!’ He’s done it once again. Messi: the magician, OUR magician. He’s not only a gifted player, but – above all – a positive leader, a role model, so scarce in our country nowadays. Although I’m not a football fan myself, I enjoy watching the teamwork our players show in every match. They support and depend on one another. A lot to learn from them. As a society, we seem to lack that joint effort, that deep alliance, that group coordination. There’s a suitable idiom in English that illustrates this: “Play ball with,” to agree to work together for everyone’s sake, compromise if necessary. Politicians and public officials should follow suit and take their cue from them, prioritising the public interest over personal gain.
