Mafalda is already 50 years old. 50 years young, I’d say. Many of us grew up with her. She’s been one of our closest friends all along. Her wisdom, her accurate analysis of the world’s problems, her simplicity not devoid of depth, her sense of humor, her philosophy of life, still hold true and valid. We enjoy her and her mates, some well portrayed Argentine stereotypes, just as loveable. A few days ago, Mafalda’s dad, cartoonist Quino, was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities. Well deserved prize for a long and prolific career. His humility is in keeping with his characters. We, Argentines, should all feel very proud of having such a talented ambassador.
