Another femicide. This time the victim was a 14-year old teenager in Córdoba, Agostina Vega, who was allegedly kidnapped, raped and killed by Claudio Gabriel Barrelier. This criminal had a pending legal case against him for the alleged kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment of an ex-partner in 2025, a case for which he had been released on bail. In spite of this pre-existing record, this known offender was as free as a bird, or rather as a vulture. He’s not the only one to blame, though. I believe the whole justice system has failed once again. Judges and prosecutors are also to blame, as in Lucio Dupuy’s case, where the child welfare system failed dramatically and led to the child’s murder. Together with Barrelier, the actual perpetrator in this case, all those judicial and court officers should also sit down on the bench of the accused, for their unforgivable negligence.
