I wonder: is anyone in charge of checking the attendance at Congress? More often than not, I can see many seats empty at the “Cámara de Diputados”. Do the absentees suffer any discount in their astronomical salaries? Teachers do. Employees, too. Students might lose their academic year if they don’t attend classes. Anyone who neglects his or her duties is punished, or should be, anyway. I believe that many of our “diputados” and “senadores” practise chronic absenteeism. We have a right to know how often our legislators don’t show up for work in Congress, so as to bear their names in mind when we enter the dark room. Just saying.
