Day after day, Milei reminds me more and more of late president Carlos Menem. So many similarities! His sideburns, his brand new girlfriend Yuyito González, his ideas on market freedom and private investment, his emphasis on deregulation, his economic programme as a whole. However, Milei doesn’t seem to be as street smart as “The Turk.” Not as cool as Menem, in many ways. Furthermore, his more than close relationship with his sister Karina (“the Boss,” as he calls her) is rather weird. He strongly believes Karina can be the head of the “La Libertad Avanza” list in the Buenos Aires Province in the next midterms. If I were him, I would dismiss that idea. She’s just been in La Plata recently, and – to put it mildly – didn’t summon crowds. They say she’d like to have a public debate with Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. I wouldn’t dare – CFK would beat her pants off. That’s her expertise. On the other hand, the President’s sister lacks the charisma a candidate needs. I would give her a piece of advice by means of a well-known proverb: he who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day…
