Undoubtedly, Mirtha ‘Chiqui’ Legrand is one-of-a-kind. Not only is she the most veteran TV host in the world. Apart from her weekly current show, La Noche de Mirtha, she often goes to the heatre, thus supporting her colleagues, actors and actresses, who roll out the red carpet to welcome her. In spite of the painful personal losses she has suffered, she has always kept active, updating herself, reading about her guests’ background beforehand, asking them incisive questions, admitting her faux pas publicly and sincerely apologising for them. Getting older doesn’t necessarily imply deterioration or senility, does it? Mirtha defies “ageism”: all those prejudices, negative stereotypes and discriminatory actions towards the elderly, thus setting a very good example. She calls herself “a legend”, which she truly is by now. Long live our local Queen!!!
