Another mass funeral. This time, Transport Minister Mario Meoni’s. A funeral that reminded us of Diego Maradona’s. Crowded mourners hugging, not keeping any social distancing at all. Among them, President Alberto Fernández. During this endless pandemic, thousands of people haven’t been able to bid farewell to their beloved ones. Maybe because their dead ones weren’t famous or well- known. Just common people, ordinary people, whose death feels as painful as anybody else’s for those left behind. If rules don’t apply to everyone, they are certainly unfair. This applies to our current state of things in Argentina. On the one hand, schools keep closed (at least, in BA province). On the other hand, there are massive picketers’ demonstrations every single day in CABA. Can anyone account for these hideous differences? I doubt it …
