Am I the only one who fears we might be at the brink of another world war? My Italian grandparents came to Argentina fleeing from the war. They found shelter here, settled down and started a new life and their own families. Nowadays, believe it or not, that unimaginable  nightmare is back. And there’s nowhere to hide, no shelter, no safe place. We’re inevitably heading for chaos. Rather paradoxical: we seem to have evolved in so many ways technologically and scientifically speaking, but at the same time, our moral involution is appalling. We’ve plainly failed as human beings if we cannot solve our conflicts without necessarily resorting to violence. We’re destroying one another and our own planet, sawing the branch on which we’re sitting. I do hope reason and common sense will prevail before it’s too late. As John Steinbeck wisely put it: “All war is a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal.”
